2011.10.18 - Exceliance releases ALOHA load balancer version 4.2

October 18, 2011 – Exceliance released version 4.2 of its ALOHA application load balancers. The new version includes a new virtual appliance designed to run with Microsoft Hyper-V. Now full 64-bit, its processing performance is improved. Version 4.2 also brings a new troubleshooting toolkit.

Triple compatibility – Hyper-V, VMWare and KVM
Exceliance was one of the first publishers to offer its load balancers as a virtual appliance. Available to date for servers virtualized using VMWare and KVM (Kernel-based Virtual Machine, Linux’s VMM), ALOHA load balancers are now compatible with Microsoft Hyper-V. As a result, Exceliance becomes the first provider on the market to offer load balancing solutions that can function as virtual machines in VMware, KVM and Hyper-V environments.

Increase performance thanks to 64-bit
Relying on Linux kernel version 2.6 since version 4.0, ALOHA load balancers appliances are now full 64-bit. ALOHA load balancers embedded in SSD or as virtual images are compatible with this type of processor. Adopting 64-bit offers increased processing performance, especially when calculating SSL keys, which is now 2 to 2.5 times faster than before.

New troubleshooting toolkit
The new version has new troubleshooting tools. Using logs of recorded traffic, the load balancer ranks servers and URLs by response time or type of returned error. Using this information, Web application administrators and developers can identify and resolve issues faster.
